Are you curious and would you like to learn Reiki Healing?

Many who join in for a Reiki Training does not have a clear idea or knowledge about what Reiki is. I did not myself either many years ago when attending my first training. But the common denominator is that they feel curiously drawn  to it. And that, it is a perfect way to start your journey in the world of energy and the inner wisdom that resides in all of us.

First, what is Reiki & how does it work?

Reiki is originally from Japan and can be translated into spiritually guided life-force energy, and it is an intelligent and balancing energy that can help our body to heal physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. May sounds woo-hoo, but it is really not. We may feel uncertain with things that are not  in a “matter” form, things we can not really see - and Reiki is a felt experience. Reiki can activate the body’s capacity to start healing itself, clear out blockages and balance the energy flow. Best thing - it's not something that outside of us - it exists in all of us and the practice can be learned of everyone

There are studies of Reiki, about the heightened frequency vibration in Reiki Practitioners, however it would ofc be welcomed with more. From some of the blogger ones you can read that Reiki seem to have the ability to reduce anxiety and pain, induce relaxation, improve fatigue and depressive symptoms, and strengthen overall wellbeing. In many countries Reiki goes hand-in-hand with western medicine, and is approved by the government as an alternative therapy (in Sweden you can get Friskvårdsbidrag).

The studies to date are typically small, and not every study is well designed. However, overlapping data from some of the stronger studies support the ability of Reiki to reduce anxiety and pain, and suggest its usefulness to induce relaxation, improve fatigue and depressive symptoms, and strengthen overall wellbeing.

Reiki to help heal physical and mental trauma, to support mental clarity and spiritual well-being

The word Reiki can be broken up in two parts. “Rei", refers to a higher intelligence that exists in everything, a universal power. “Ki" refers to the unseen, non-physical energy that flows through everything that is alive, including plants, animals, and human beings. Much like Prana in Indian Philosophy or Chi in Chinese medicine, or meet in Tai Chi or Acupuncture.

Besides activating the body's own regenerating ability, it can help to cleanse emotional, physical or mental blockages, reduce stress and anxiety, relieve physical pain, improve sleep patterns or insomnia.

Reiki has a soft and non-intrusive way of opening our energy channels and is ideal for all interested or curious about energy medicine to enhance your knowledge and develop spiritually or just feel better in our own body. It is a wonderful tool to use for taking care of ourselves, on our close ones, animals or ofc on others in the everyday life you are in.

What does it mean to channel Reiki or energy?

Reiki is given or sent by a trained Reiki Practitioner who channels the Reiki energy through his or her hands. They are not giving anything to you, simply channeling your own energy, enabling blockages to loosen its grip and clarify the energy pathways.

The practitioner can work on your physical body, on your energetic body (aura) or send distant reiki. Regardless of the form, it is for the greater good, it is with a clear intention and it is highly powerful.

The receiver may feel tingling feeling sensations in their body as the energy is moving, feel cold, heat, pressure of different intensity. They may travel somewhere else or just land in a serene calm without having to perform.

Reiki is a perception based modality, felt in the hands, but some practitioners (including myself) might have somewhat psychic or clairvoyant abilities. Do note that this is not Reiki, however due to the nature of Reiki and the channeling of such, the vails might be this and images, colors etc might travel through. If so, that practitioner might share afterwards what might have come through.

How do I learn Reiki and become a Reiki practitioner?

First, there are different styles and teachings of Reiki. The writer is trained in USUI Reiki, which is the traditional teaching. However, if you feel drawn to a different style (Karuna Reiki, Jikiden Reiki, Holy Fire Reiki…), or maybe it's a specific teacher you feel called to work with - that is probably the one for you! Reiki is highly intentional, so trust your gut feeling.

Reiki differs in a few characteristic ways from other healing modalities, and one of the most significant things is the attunement process. This is a sacred ritual performed only by a Reiki Master and it for sure is to be experienced, even though the experience in itself differs widely. For some it can be highly intense and it may take some time for the attunement process to integrate in the body.

Can Anyone Learn Reiki?

Yes! Reiki is everywhere and learning Usui Reiki Ryoho (translation Usui Spiritual Energy Healing Method) is available to all. It is not dependent on an intellectual capacity, nor previous background and it does not take years to learn. That said - you can deepen your practice over the years which makes you clearer as a channel, and you can read, learn and study indefinitely. But to become a practitioner Reiki works by passing on the teaching from teacher to student.

“Kia, I am so grateful for finding You and Reiki. It is completely life changing and already so short after the training it has given my life i higher porpose, healing and joy. I highly appreciate your way of teaching and the support before, during and after the training. I have found a home in a community with reiki practitioners that can inpire each others. I can highly recommend to all to try Reiki and do a training with Kia. Magic!”

-Emelie J (Level 1 and 2 practitioner)

What is a Reiki Attunement?

One thing that differs Reiki from other healing practices is the attunement process when the Reiki is transferred to the student by the Reiki Master. This process opens, or clears, a channel for energy and creates a link between the student and the Reiki source.

An attunement is a powerful spiritual experience, sometimes very felt as the attunement energies are channeled into the student through the Reiki Master. Many are the people who have had mystical experiences involving personal messages, healings, visions, color or light phenomenon, and past life experiences.

The attunement may increase psychic sensitivity, increased intuitive awareness, and other psychic abilities. Do not worry. If you do the training with me, I promise you will be in safe hands and I will talk you through it and guide you ongoing.

Once you have received a Reiki attunement, you will have Reiki for life. HOwever you can always get more attunement if you would like to. Some say that when you receive several attunements of the same level, it adds value to the strength of the energy, clarity of mind, increased psychic sensitivity, and a raised level of consciousness.

The Reiki attunement can start a cleansing process for our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body. Stored energy or toxins may be released.

Reiki Training:

Shoden - Reiki Level 1

There are 3-4  levels of Reiki training, depending on your teacher. The third are for some included in the Master Training which is the final one.

The first if called Shoden, “first techings” where you learn and understand:

  • The history, heritage and evolvement of Reiki

  • The basics of how to work with Reiki healing

  • How to give Reiki to yourself

  • How to ground and clear your own energy

  • How to protect, or maybe more renew and expand, your energy

  • The Gokai that will develop a spiritual and mental connection

  • The hands-on practice of Reiki on self and others (both how to work intuitively, but also specific hand placements and sequences)

  • Teachings about the aura, the chakras and the balance of them both

  • You will receive Reiju, the attunement to deepen one’s energetic connection and enable you to channel Reiki energy in the Usui Shiki Ryoho lineage

The attunement process can get intense, and slightly exhausting as it is a detoxification process, but your Reiki Master will give you advice on how to take care of you accordingly.

Okuden - Reiki Level 2

Not all continue to level 2, you will know if you feel called even though the reason may still be in hiding.

Okuden translates into ‘inner teachings’. And that feels like the perfect translation for this road towards a deeper understanding and connection to Reiki and with the energy that belongs to the unseen. The energy that even can travel through time and space. On a personal note, I am highly interested in quantum physics, and the more science is catching up to these ancient learnings… oh well, let's say it's interesting what we know intuitively that now is gaining interest in the world of science.

During Okuden you will learn new techniques, new symbols and develop a deeper trust with intuition. During level 2 it is not unusual that it for some people opens a door to increased psychic abilities.

Okuden continues to build your knowledge and set up for you to work professionally both in person, as well working with Distant Reiki. Distant healing is a highly beneficial and fulfilling practice, and the energetic connection can be so profound and deep. It may be hard to explain and understand in the forehand, but it is truly felt, and personally I have had my strongest experiences receiving Distant Reiki.

Distant Reiki can also be learned to use for yourself beyond the boundaries of time and space. We can heal earlier physical or emotional traumas, or send blessings forward through time transcendence. Ofc you can not change the past - but you can heal or shift how the past is living in you.

During Okuden you will learn:

  • First a review of Reiki Shoden, may also be an extra session or conversation if you have shifted Reiki Master. The teachers are different so do not see it as a bad thing if the teacher offers it, it is just to gain an understanding of what you have learned

  • Reiki tools and techniques to advance your practice (for example Byosen, Koki-Ho…)

  • Enhance working intuitively

  • Distance Reiki, including practice

  • Learning about the energy centers, tandems, and/or chakras

  • New reiki symbols

  • Okuden Reiju, attunement in the Usui Shiki Ryoho lineage. (if you have not studied with me for Shoden and have not received the first symbol you will too)

Level 3, Advanced Reiki Training, ART

ART is often done over one day, and you will as previously receive an attunement for a new symbol. Practice new techniques and overall gain a higher confidence in Reiki.

Shinpiden Reiki Master

Shinpiden is the Japanese word meaning “Mystery Teachings” and is a longer training. Either done over time, of if you would like to do the Master with me, during an immersive retreat-style training. We work together to further explore the teachings, deepen the intuitive connection, explore and learn even more tools and techniques within this particular Reiki lineage. But we will also touch base on tools incorporated from other energy medicine practices as this is in my experience and background.

To become a Reiki Master, you do not have to work with Reiki as a profession prior or after. You can have the intention of deepening the relationship with you, which is a beautiful practice! No matter the reason, the more you continually utilize and practice the healing abilities or Reiki,  on you, on your animal, plants, rooms or wherever - the more benefits will show up in your life. That said, my hope is that the training will give you the knowledge and confidence to teach and develop a sustainable professional practice if you choose to.

Reiki Master is planned for October 2024

Does Reiki really work...?

Try it! It truly is a felt experience. But it for sure changed my life ina profound way as I (re-)discovered my own energy and could connect to something more than me.

Follow your heart or listen to your inner voice. Sometimes we do not always hear the answer out loud - but we can sort of feel it. And know that you can always ask the teacher questions before signing up.
